Grantwho grew up in western sydney and has spent most of his adult life moving around the country
he has lived in the burbs,the nations capital, melbourne, the snowy mountains, the south coast,
sydney city and now sunny qld, he hopes to live in spain, france, england, tronto, miami and
indoneisa before he leaves this earth. “I have a lot of great memories in this world and the majority
of does where brought on by music”. “Music is like the tree that keeps on giving it starts of as a simple
pleasure and evolves in to something moving and special”.
Starting out as a club DJ Grantwho was making a name in the dance scene and was
performing at regular club nights in Wollongong when suddenly he developed a
constant ringing in his ear that turned out to be tinnitus. After speaking with
a doctor and learning that the weekly club sets would decimate his hearing in a
matter of years Grantwho thought he had reached a cross road in his life. At first
it seemed like music and the loss of hearing in his left ear or get out of the
music business all together but then a third option came to mind all most like
it was meant to be. MUSIC PRODUCTION!
Grantwho threw in his home loan, his job and his nice car and headed down to the
snow armed with his music gear leaving civilization behind him. Locking himself
away for months on end he began to delve in to the world of production and as
the months passed by he developed the skills he needed to create his own style.
A style I can best describe as gritty classic
hip hop meets technology. Having been involved with both dance music and hip hop
and now with a new found talent for producing both styles Grantwho was faced with
the dilemma of which genre to focus his efforts on.
Hip hop…dance…dance…hip hop….
In the end he decided he would keep producing both genres and in turn use the
techniques and sounds from both to fuse them in to a Grantwho vibe.
Several of
his dance tracks were offered commercial release along the way but the deals were
not right so he stuck it out and continued polishing his craft.
Grantwho lives for
his music and his bass heavy, electronic, synthed out tracks are definantly going
to turn heads. This is just the beginning of this young Aussie producers career
and with creative freedom to follow his instincts.
Thanks to developing technologies in the audiology industrie Grantwho can do what
he does best entertain, armed with a bag load of his own tracks and sounds.
